New Mexicans to Receive More Financial Assistance for Health Insurance
Hundreds of Dollars in Reductions Available Beginning Today;
Many Qualify for Insurance at No Cost
Albuquerque, N.M. (April 1, 2021) – BeWellnm, the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, announces today the availability of reduced health insurance costs for New Mexicans as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP). People who enroll at beWellnm.com can now receive health insurance at little or no cost.
With an estimated 95,000 New Mexicans eligible for health insurance coverage on beWellnm, more uninsured people than ever before will receive hundreds of dollars in financial assistance through beWellnm. The reduced costs make health insurance more affordable, and those who already have insurance through the exchange can lower existing payments or change to a new plan. “Individuals who make less than $20,000 per year could have their monthly payments eliminated completely,” said Maureen Manring, director of communication and outreach for beWellnm. “All plans cover the 10 essential benefits such as doctor visits, hospital stays, maternity care, emergency room care, prescriptions, and more.” Federal law and regulations provide protections against preexisting condition exclusions in health insurance coverage. Health plans must permit New Mexicans to enroll regardless of health status, age, gender, or other factors that may predict the use of health services.
Beginning today, beWellnm encourages all New Mexicans to take advantage of the increased financial assistance to reduce their health care costs. “If you are currently uninsured, already signed up for coverage with beWellnm, or receiving coverage from a former employer’s health insurance plan through COBRA, this is now the time to enroll as the Special Enrollment Period closes on August 15, 2021, but the financial assistance remains available for years. It’s very easy to sign up. BeWellnm’s team of certified assisters are available to help explain the new health insurance financial assistance to help you find the most affordable plan available and take advantage of the reductions,” said Manring.
The beWellnm team of certified enrollment counselors, agents, and brokers are free. They are always available to help those in need review and explain their health insurance options through telephone assistance or virtual appointments at (833) 862-3935 or online by visiting beWellnm.com.
