Albuquerque, NM – beWellnm, New Mexico’s Health Insurance Exchange, is pleased to announce that Lisa Farrell Lujan joined its Board of Directors in August 2015, with a term ending June 30, 2018. Lujan brings more than 20 years of health services and insurance operations experience.
Lujan is currently the president of Presbyterian Health Plan (PHP) and has held leadership positions with Lovelace Health Plan and Arthur Andersen, LLC. In her current role at PHP, Ms. Lujan oversees the health plan’s strategy and operations and has successfully executed key strategic initiatives related to the Affordable Care Act and Centennial Care (New Mexico’s re-designed Medicaid program). She previously served as PHP’s Chief Financial Officer and then as vice president of Integrated Care Solutions for Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Integrated Care Solutions is a group within Presbyterian that leverages the organization’s integrated system of hospitals, physicians and health plan to redesign traditional healthcare delivery through alternative care models.
“We are very excited for Ms. Lujan to join the NMHIX Board of Directors. Her expertise in health care services, both in the individual and small business markets, makes her a valuable addition to the board. Her strategic insights into insurance operations and the delivery and finance of health care services will certainly help guide our efforts to reach New Mexicans across the state and to continue the successful operation of New Mexico’s health insurance exchange,” said Dr. J.R. Damron, Chair of the beWellnm Board of Directors.
Lujan has also served on the Board of Directors for PHP, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Alliance of Community Health Plans, Health Plan Alliance and New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool.
In 2013, The New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange Act formed the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange, and a board of directors was appointed. Pursuant to NMSA 1978 Section 59A-23F-3(E), Lujan has been appointed to the NMHIX board of directors by the Governor. Lujan will fill the seat previously occupied by Gabriel Parra of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Mr. Parra had served on the NMHIX board since the board’s inception in 2013.
“We also thank Mr. Parra for his service and dedication to the Exchange. He has worked extremely hard to deliver on beWellnm’s mission and has made critical contributions towards making beWellnm a successful state based health insurance exchange,” Damron said.
