Albuquerque, NM –  beWellnm has learned that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has sent incorrect tax statements, known as Form 1095-A to some New Mexicans who had enrolled in health insurance through beWellnm in 2014.  Most people received a correct Form 1095-A, however, those that are affected by this issue may be contacted in the coming days and can expect to receive a corrected form by early March.

“While beWellnm works with CMS to better understand this issue, we encourage New Mexicans to verify that their 1095-A Tax Form is correct before filing their taxes. To verify that the 1095-A tax form received is correct, New Mexicans should call the healthcare.gov call center at 1-800-318-2596 or log into their healthcare.gov account before filing their taxes,” said Linda Wedeen, Communications Director at beWellnm.

Form 1095-A is an important tax statement for those who received Advance Payments of the Premium Tax Credit (APTC) and is needed to fill out the 2014 federal income tax return.

New Mexicans concerned about the status of their 1095-A forms should take the following actions:

  1. Log into account at HealthCare.gov.  Once a consumer logs in they should select their 2014 application and then select “Tax Forms.”  Affected consumers will see a message letting them know if their 1095-A Tax Form is being corrected.
  2. Call the Healthcare.gov Call Center. Consumers can call the Healthcare.gov Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325) to verify that their information is correct.

If a consumer has an incorrect Form 1095-A and has already filed their tax returns, more information will be provided soon on how to amend the tax return.

Consumers with questions or who want to learn more are encouraged to visit www.healthcare.gov/taxes. Representatives at the Marketplace Call Center are also standing by to answer consumer questions. The call center is open 24/7 at 1-800-318-2596.
